A New Direction

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.” Steve Jobs

When you are driving, do you occasionally look in the rear view mirror? For me, I do this very often. This is partly for safety reasons and partly for my curiosity to know who is coming from behind. Besides the rear view, I also check to see that I am staying in lane.

In the month of May, I had lunch with Liz, a dear friend of mine. Liz has several years of international experience working for UN level organizations. Liz is currently a professor at a local university. She was kind enough to tell me something that I needed to know.
“Gideon, you are doing quite a lot, but it seems like you are all over the place.” Liz ‘s words were very gentle but equally as sharp as a laser beam. Her words reminded me to check my hindsight and foresight ie my rear view mirror and my windshield.

Thanks to Liz, I reviewed all that I had been doing. I asked myself where did I come from and where was I going professionally. After weeks of thinking, I decided it was time to focus all my energy one topic – Resiliency – turning setbacks into springboards.

Thus, my new strategic direction is to stay in one lane- Resiliency. In this lane, I intend to be radically committed to resiliency training programs in the three areas: cyber resiliency, crisis resiliency and career resiliency.

To all my friends, fans and followers, I say, come join me on this journey! I ‘ll need your support. In order to make it equally rewarding to you, I am starting an e-newsletter titled, “Springboard,” to share the finest ideas, stories and lessons that I learn with you.

Sincerely yours,

Gideon F. For-mukwai
Radically committed to Resiliency
